The Power of Movies...

The Power of Movies...

Movies is really a piece of art…

It makes people became more “open-minded” to life.

When we can’t go to a place that we always wanted to go,

We can see it through movies.

When you wanted to learn a languange,

be best if you learn it through movies,

because it’s not just fun but also make you learn faster.

Songs did the same thing,

but movies does it better because…

you don’t just hear things,

but you also see things.

Movies are the best way to convince people,

to BELIEVE on what they are seeing.

It’s also telling us about how history happened,

and how future will be like.

Movies always knew how to touch our feelings; therefore…

I BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF MOVIES!

AND ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO DO TOO…

“No form of art goes beyond ordinary consciousness as film does, straight to our emotions, deep into the twilight of the soul.” — Ingrid Bergman

enjoy yours!!

enjoy yours!!

The title of this blog maybe sounds familiar to you. But do you really know the answer?

Some people, when they are done with high school, will try different paths in their life. The reason is simple. We can’t be the same person over and over again. People need some changes in their life. People said we can’t be the same as yesterday. Some of my friends, like you maybe, will move from your past to your future by studying in college. Some of them went to different city or maybe better, different country, to find who they supposed to be. Some maybe plan to keeping in contact with as many friends as possible, and some might want to lose it. Do you honestly really ready to leave it all behind? Well, for me, i kept my past,i wont let it go. I was the type of person that really want to be friends until my lifetime is over. I really loves my family and friends, both of them, Indonesia and America. Even if i’m in Indonesia right now, i wont lose contact with my friends and families in America. I love them, as much as i love my friends and families in Indonesia. I kept all of my life balanced.

I want to be someone that everyone’s think important. Someone that can make changes in the world, someone that everyone like to be with, someone that always be there for their friends, someone that can help other peoples, someone that everyone’s think is success. This might sound cheesy, but for real, i want to be that person. I have to be better than my parents. They are great people. High education, well-mannered, a good example for their kids. We can called our family “Exchange students family”, we are all become exchange student. Its good to know other people’s culture, that is different from our’s. I am hoping that i can be a diplomat, work at United Nations New York, volunteering at Greenpeace. Hope i can be the way i wanted.

University Life

Ok, so here i want to tell some stories about my university life. So before I went to University of Indonesia, majoring in German Literature, i have some thoughts. 1. Waiting until next year,  try to pass SNMPTN (College entrance test in Indonesia), to major in International Relations. 2. Double degree (or Double college, as i say). They are University of Indonesia – German Literature and Paramadina University – International Relations. And then, i found out that the schedule clashes. I could not take both of them. Now i took German Literature in the University of Indonesia more because my mom really wants me to go to Public University. I did all this because i love my mom, more than anyone else. I cannot make her down… Well the things is i’m happy for what i’m choosing, because i feel like what my mom choose always be the right path for me. When i’m outta junior high school, i really want to go to a public school. But then my mom ask for the different path : go to private university. When my brother not choosing what my mom chooses, he is really in trouble. The school always in fight with the other schools. And then now he went to the private school that my mom always expecting. Now the thing is, some people really think what they really want is the right path. But it’s not always like that. This university welcoming the new students with the big choir, which everyone should take part ( about 5000 people , some of them don’t know anything about choir ). They have a lot of orientation things going on ( I hate that, why wouldnt we just study? ). I love the university besides of everything bad in it. I love the friends, they are great. We will always be busy with a lot of tasks from the lecturer, but we are ONE, always. Helping each other to be the best in life :)

I am thankful to be a part of University of Indonesia’s German Literature students. The students are great, and the university, well- you can tell.  People here like to ask me to study with them, and i’m proud. When other people said that Literature is easy, i kinda believe in it. But then, after the first semester goes by and i’m in second semester, now i realize that literature is harder than it seems like. We learn about the linguistic, the literature, the history, and the language.

All in once. Which is difficult for me.  I love the languange, even if it is different from english, because they have 3 kinds of articles. “Der, Die, Das” in english we just have “The”. I have failed before, in first semester, when i take European History. I don’t know why i have to fail, but it sure does become my lesson. They gave you scores just based on two tests (The Mid and The Finals). I think that is crazy. Why don’t see how much work we were doing in class?

However, after two years studying German Literature, I found that my family will move to the UK and I started to think that I should take the subject that I always wanted to study: International Political Studies. Luckily, I found a very good university near our house there called “Middlesex University” in London. Their library is the most enjoyable place on the university to study. I found that politics is clearly an amazing subject to be learned, because we can learn about a lot of things in the world. It could be technology or environment. It captures all the problems that are needed to be solved by us.

I am so glad that I have other opportunity to experience studying abroad.

My Life Today…

If people asked “Hows your life now?”
I think its kinda hard to answer it.

I just get back from “You know where” (USA,America, whatever you may called it)
And now i am struggling with going to college.
The tests for going to college,in Indonesia, its something that you never hope that you’re gonna get.
Its like bad dream and you really want to get out of it.
It is really hard, and you’re hoping in your heart that you wont get this thing.

I was hoping i’m still in America,
doing nice easy interview to enter a college,
and live in peace.

I really hope to study at Germany,USA, or Australia.
Oh how happy i would be!

And you know what?
I have to study just for 10 days (after i get back from America)
which is crazy.
I choose International Relations and Politic in University of Indonesia.
Then i stressed out because i think i wont pass this test after i finished it.
I started to think to go to private college (one of them was Pelita Harapan University, which is so far away),but then i think twice and think its not worth it.
My mom tells me to have another test for entering University of Indonesia, which called “Non Reguler Test”. In there,my interests of the courses option was only English and German Literature.
This test is freakin’ expensive,so its not worth it because of the course i choose.
This whole thing is really confusing:
Where do you want to go after high school?
What do you want to be in the future?
What are your plans?
And this one makes you go crazy:
Do you really want to do that?
And your answer should be Yes,and always should.
I have plans if the colleges not accept me this year.
So it really doesn’t matter.
If you like what you do,do it.

New York Trip

Before i go back home this 17th of June,
I went to New York for a holiday after graduation.

At the airport going there,i bought some foods at McDonalds.
We stayed at Holiday Inn in Newark,New Jersey.
It is just because to stay there was a lot cheaper than staying in New York.
But we waste a lot of time to go to New York itself.|
We have to take Airtrain,Busway and Train to get there.
After we were at New York,we get the ticket for the Bus Night Tour.

Meanwhile,I take pictures at the Times Squares.
Before going to the bus,we went to a Calzone restaurant. (Pizza but not open).
My hostmom did not know that there is no calzone in the plastic bag.
My hostdad go back to the Calzone place, and we have to miss the bus and wait for the other one.
When my hostdad here,we know that there are just 2 calzone instead of 3!
Not even check it again!

So then my hostdad and my hostmom just have half of the calzone.
We can not hear the tour guide because it is so loud and his microphone was just broken.
I sat with a girl from the Netherlands, and we have fun and just talk.
We saw fireworks from the bridge.
The girl love indonesian foods. For some reasons,Netherlands have many indonesian restaurants.
We pretty much take a rest and go out from the bus and take pictures.
The bus take us where we want to stop for going home.

The other day,we are going to United Nations (i’m just hoping u know what it is)
There are a lot of people in New York that are tourists.
From India,Netherlands,Korea,China,Japan….
For some reasons, there are a lot of people from India.
In the United Nations we take a tour inside of the building.
We take pictures of the gifts that they received from other countries.
I bought my “I Love New York” shirts there. With the sign “Kings” on the bottom of it,I don’t know why.
After that we walk for a long time to get to the Skyline Boat Tour.
They have a great tour guide in there.
That is a good time to relax after long walk.

After the boat tour we went to Madame Tussauds (where they have celebrities, sports player and politicians in wax, looks like real)
I take picture with a lot of famous people,
like Johnny Depp and Miley Cyrus.
Then we ate at the Applebees restaurant.
After Applebees,we went shopping.
I found MTV Store too.

The next day,we went to Statue Liberty.
There have the “beautiful” long lines to go with the boat.
The only sad thing about this is we can’t go inside because you have to call for reservations first.
Then we went to Ellis Island, where the immigrants from another countries have to go to be Americans.

After that we went to World Trade Center Memorial Museum, when they show a lot of comments and things from 9/11.
They called WTC as “Ground Zero” right now.
They will be finished to build The new WTC at 2012.
They will have waterfalls there too.

After that we went to Top of The Rock, when we go to the top of the building and see New York skyscrappers.
And then we go to Famiglia Pizza,(they serve pizza for some famous celebrities) to eat New York style-pizza.
I ate both pizza and calzone.

The last day In New York we go to McDonalds for lunch,

and then……..

this is my favourite part………

guess what???

We are going to the Broadway Show!!!!!!!

We saw Phantom of the Opera, which is the longest-running show in broadway.

Then we ate at Chevy’s,which is Mexican Restaurant.

3 Months Left…

Ok, guys,

i know its been a long time since i write a blog again in this wordpress blog, i’ve been busy all the times here, and you know what guys?

I MISS YOU SO MUCH MY FRIENDS!

America is not a bad place to be, for real, and maybe not as crazy as you guys think all along about America. One thing that Indonesian have to know is, not many people here like Moslem people. In some of the teenagers eyes, all moslems are terrorists for sure.

Its easy to get an A for school, (maybe this is not a good facts to tell, because you will be lazy when you go there). But it is, really easy. You just have to do your homework (or maybe do what you supposed to do) and study when you have a test or a quiz, right? The different things about the school are, YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT SUBJECT YOU WANT TO TAKE (what is more better than that?), YOU DONT HAVE TO WEAR UNIFORM (Sounds good, but it will be a disaster guys! so take it easy for the uniform thing in Indonesia, i think it was good)

PS: Don’t wish to get an A on english class guys!

I’ve been to many places that i never think of before (well, i’ve been thinking about Chicago, at least) I haven’t gone to New York, as i wish for it before, but its ok. In chicago, i’ve seen NBA Games, My father university (The university of Chicago-Law School), Sears Tower(well that one wasn’t turn out so good, it’s dark and i cant see anything), The Blue Man Group (these guys were so AMAZING, but i can’t really describe what are they, but they are really HILLARIOUS)

I’ve been to Duluth, there’s many beautiful views out there :)

I’ve been to House on The Rock (house on top of rocks) in Wisconsin, well this place is hard to describe, the owner like to collect things (really cool things) in his really big house.

Just that for this time.

Maybe you didn’t know that I came from Indonesia. I’m joining an exchange program by Nacel Open Door to America. I want to tell about my expectations by joining this Exhange students program.

I want to be a successful person, I want to be a prominent figure in the future.
I want to be able to help many people in the world.
I don’t want to be an ordinary person. I hope when I am dead , many people will still remember
me in their minds.

I want to understand American culture, difference of habits that they
have in terms of politics and education, and others. I like to learn from others.
I want to know whether  racial issue is still problematic or not in America.
I want to understand why their people are permitted to own a gun. I want to
know why many gossip magazines are significant and why their divorce rate is quite high.

I want to get more activities there. I don’t want to get culture shock or homesickness. I want to join many sports club, every seasons. I want to join a music club, or, maybe….drama? who knows? Involved in environmental organization is also what I expected. Oh yes — dance! I’ll show them BALI JAIPONG!!! I am very nervous of this. I hope my dance isn’t bad,and i hope they have appreciation for me. I hope they don’t have too many questions about this dance.

I want to be a great child for my host parents. they accepted me without me paying them. So I want to show enthusiasm, bright personality, high morale, tolerance, good manners, empathy, and of course SMILES. I want to be a great Indonesian ambassador. I want to change their perception about Indonesia. Some people might think that the country is full of terrorists, but not all Indonesian people are like that.

Well , I also still want to hear latest American music from MTV! Oh I am going to miss that, because I know that my host family don’t like to watch it, they just like to listen to it. I still want to go to mall and movie theaters! I know that in my city, i can’t watch movies. Uh it’s really sad for me. I know I will go to the REAL theaters though. I really wanted to see that. I want to attend a concert, I want to go to music stores!!! and–something that maybe can’t be realized — attend TRL live  in New York Times Square!!

Why do I say that it can’t be realized? because I am in Waseca, Minnesota. It’s too far from New York. It doesn’t mean I don’t like minnesota, because I do. However, I want to go to New York. And Los Angeles? Hollywood!! the latest information i got, my cousin went to Las Vegas, and there’s no snow there. I like SNOW! can’t wait for winter there!

My feelings now, (well, i can’t even describe it!) i don’t want to go, but i want to go!!! I don’t want to say goodbye to my friends in Indonesia, but i want to see them — my host family, my friends in America… I will miss my friends in Indonesia. I love them. I don’t wanted them to forgot me. (hahaha..)

Least but not least, I want this year be the best year of my life.
